Metal-Joining Products

PRODUCTS & SERVICES | ENGINEERING MATERIALS | ELECTRICAL CONTACTS

Metal-joining Products comprising a range of Mallory materials based on copper and silver, to two main areas of application:

RESISTANCE WELDING SUPPLIES

Copper has a high electrical and thermal conductivity and is the basis of resistance welding alloys.  The most significant of these are Mallory 328, Mallory 100 and  Mallory 20W3.

Mallory 328 is a chromium-copper alloy with added zirconium.  It is resistant to cracking and sticking and is particularly suitable for welding tin-plate, mild steel and coated steel.

Mallory 100 contains cobalt, nickel and beryllium, and has moderately good conductivity and even greater hardness than Mallory 328.  It is particularly suitable for welding high-resistance materials such as stainless steel and heat-resistant alloys.

Mallory 20W3 is a copper-tungsten alloy manufactured using powder metallurgy techniques.  This process produces an alloy with high hardness, reasonably good electrical conductivity and extremely high softening temperatures.  Mallory 20W3 is best suited to die inserts or facings for projection, flash and butt welding, and hot upsetting and riveting.
