CONTACTS
Engineering Materials comprising of Tungsten based products, for three principal areas of application :
AEROSPACE AND DEFENCE
Mallory products have widespread acceptance in the aerospace industry. The high density of these materials (up to 55% greater than that of lead) enables the volume of balancing masses to be minimised.
Individual applications
include:
vibration damping and dynamic
balancing
centrifugal balancing
flywheels and balance weights
governor weights
missile and fuselage mass
balancing
riveting dollies and bucking
bars
accelerometer and transducer
components
RADIATION SHIELDING
Mallory Heavy Alloys are used to provide protective shielding in radiotherapy units, radiographic equipment and isotope containers.
These Heavy Alloys are about 50% more effective in shielding against gamma- and X-radiation than lead and can, therefore, provide the same degree of protection as lead whilst significantly reducing the overall volume and thickness of shields and containers.
METAL PROCESSING
Mallory products are used in critical applications found within the metal processing industry.
Extrusion
Dies
Mallory 4000 to 4200
are products widely used for the dies employed in the extrusion of metals, especially
copper based alloys, because they last longer than traditional die materials.
The benefits of Mallory products are:
reduction in press down-time
excellent crack resistance
minimal extruded metal
pick-up
high thermal stability
high impact resistance
good machinability
Spark Machining Electrodes
In electrical discharge machining (EDM), the use of Mallory
10W3 ensures maximum electrode life and minimum down-time.
Die
casting Components
Mallory products are used in die casting tooling, particularly in the manufacture
of aluminium, zinc and brass castings, to ensure the long die life and minimum
shrinkage proosity of the components.
Tool
Shank Material
Compared with conventional boring-bar materials, Mallory
No-Chat allows a greater length of shank, or a greater depth of cut,
before chatter sets in. The density and strength of Mallory
No-Chat, and its excellent vibration-damping property make it ideal for
supporting abrasive wheels working at high speeds, allowing faster grinding
of deep holes with improved finish and closer tolerances.
