SILVER-NICKEL ELKANITES - DN SERIES
This range of Elkanites
has a resistance to arc erosion intermediate between fine silver and the silver-tungsten
Elkanites. They are recommended for applications where moderate resistance to
arc erosion must be combined with higher electrical conductivity and lower millivolt
drop that the silver tungsten. However, they exhibit a higher millivolt drop
than either fine silver or silver-cadmium oxide.

Elkanite DN series silver -nickel products
may be used for lighter duty contactor applications and medium duty switches.
They can be readily brazed or welded using conventional techniques without special
preparation or pre-treatment.
Elkanite D510 (10% nickel-silver) is
a material which combines high electrical conductivity and low contact resistance
with good resistance to electrical and mechanical wear. The material is relatively
ductile and available in most forms.
Elkanite D520 (20% nickel-silver) is
less ductile than Elkanite D510 although it has greater resistance to mechanical
and electrical wear. The increased nickel content reduces the conductivity of
the material whilst increasing the contact resistance.
Elkanite D56 (30% nickel-silver) has limited ductility and should only be used in severe applications where excessive wear is occurring.
