COPPER-TUNGSTEN ELKANITES - RW SERIES
In the most severe applications of the
type associated with power generation and transmissions the circuit breaker
may be operated in a protective environment as in SF6 or totally
immersed in oil. Under such conditions the advantage of using silver-based materials
in terms of tarnish resistance is removed as the exclusion of air from the contacts
will prevent oxidation occurring.
The Elkanite
RW copper-tungsten series of material provides maximum economy for the above
applications.

The selection of
the particular grade of Elkanite RW copper-tungsten material depends on the
relative importance of conductivity and arc resistance.
Elkanite
1W3 provides the maximum conductivity whilst Elkanite 30W3 offers maximum resistance
to arcing.
These materials
may be supplied in discs, patches or bars. For maximum economy discs and patches
will, wherever possible, be pressed to finished size and shape.
